About Swan River Press
Swan River Press is Ireland’s only independent press dedicated exclusively to the literature of the fantastic. Guided by a passion for works of the supernatural and strange, we are committed to producing high-quality, limited hardback editions, in order to provide fitting homes for these fascinating texts. We publish contemporary, classic, and occasionally obscure writers from around the world with an emphasis on Ireland’s past and present contributions to the genre.
The Green Book: Writings on Irish Gothic, Supernatural and Fantastic Literature is our twice-yearly journal, a much-needed venue in which to explore and celebrate Irish genre literature in all its guises.
We also occasionally run the Dublin Ghost Story Festival, an intimate gathering for those with a passion for spectral tales.

Our Hardback Editions
All Swan River Press publications, both inside and out, are attractively designed with an aim towards enhancing the reading experience. Our hardbound limited editions feature durable dust jackets, printed boards, sewn binding, head and tail bands, and are lithographically printed on high-quality stock. We also like to throw in extras where we can, such as postcards or signed editions.
Our Paperback Editions
While our hardback editions remain our primary focus, we are reprinting in paperback selected titles from our back catalogue. Our paperbacks are print-on-demand and ship from either the United States or the United Kingdom, depending on the location of the reader. Each one of our paperback editions is designed with the same care and attention to detail as our hardbacks.

“It [is] often down to small, independent, specialist presses to keep the candle of horror fiction flickering . . . In Dublin, the extraordinary Swan River Press, run by the indefatigable Brian J. Showers, has published new writers and revived old ones, often with a distinctively Irish focus.” – Irish Times
“I commend Swan River Press for continuing to bring to light lesser known Irish writers and the lesser known works of famous Irish writers.” – Books Ireland
“Each [book] is produced in an edition of 400 copies with full colour dust jackets, and they are among the most attractive volumes to come to me for review, the care that has gone into their making and design is self-evident. Publisher Brian J. Showers has served his authors magnificently.” – Black Static
“Swan River Press has emerged as one of the most inspiring new presses over the past decade. Not only are the books beautifully presented and professionally produced, but they aspire consistently to high literary quality and originality, ranging from current writers of supernatural/weird fiction to rare of forgotten works by departed authors.” – Ghosts & Scholars
